Elitists in Her Family Tree? You Betcha!
She's been on the scene for almost six weeks, and we've scrutinized her fascinating kids, her tenure as Wasilla mayor, her red peep-toe pumps, the whole Troopergate thing . . . Is there something we're forgetting?
Duh, yes, of course -- Sarah Palin 's family tree! In all the catching up the media have had to do with McCain 's veep pick, we've completely neglected to give her the genealogical once-over afforded the other major candidates this cycle. To review: Barack Obama and Dick Cheney are ninth cousins once removed; Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney are tenth cousins once removed; Fred Thompson 's dad was eighth cousin to Elvis; and Hillary Clinton is distant kin to Madonna and Angelina Jolie.
As for Palin? The folks at Ancestry.com pored over the records and say they found that Joe Six-Pack's champion is . . . tenth cousin to Princess Diana, via a common set of early 17th-century forebears. Also: She's ninth cousin once removed to that blue-blooded Democrat Franklin Delano Ro osevelt.
